Fairy Tale Castle - Bodiam Castle

Two of my very favourite sports are running and riding our bikes including a stop somewhere nice for a leisurely lunch. When I ride my bicycle I feel like flying through the air at ground level. If you are into bikes you probably know the feeling which I am talking about. Last Sunday we had a wonderful day. It was a beautiful, sunny and perfect day for taking a trip out into the countryside. We took train from London Bridge to Ashford International. From Ashford Int we were replaced by bus to Rye. Rye was our main destination (by public transport) and from there we cycled to the magnificent Bodiam Castle (final and main destination).  On our way we pulled into the Cock Inn to have our lunch, the food was very good and we found the staff friendly. Along the route there are some other country pubs and places for refreshments. The total route from Rye to Bodiam Castle it is 15 miles (24 km) and we made about 30 miles (48 km) in total as we took the same route back to Rye. The route has some rolling hills along the way but nothing too steep.
It was a beautiful ride with few stops for pictures :)
The light was just right for beautiful photos and these yellow flowers make a majestic spring landscape.
We are very close to the castle. Can you spot the historical building?
Resting close to the fascinating moated castle :)
Seems that this place is the home to lots of ducks. Thank you to my Sashka for taking this photo while I was taking a selfie with the ducks.

Bodiam Castle (/ˈboʊdiəm/) is a 14th-century moated castle near Robertsbridge in East Sussex, England. It was built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge, a former knight of Edward III, with the permission of Richard II, ostensibly to defend the area against French invasion during the Hundred Years' War. Of quadrangular plan, Bodiam Castle has no keep, having its various chambers built around the outer defensive walls and inner courts. Its corners and entrance are marked by towers, and topped by crenellations. Its structure, details and situation in an artificial watery landscape indicate that display was an important aspect of the castle's design as well as defence.

The setting with the moat makes this castle one of the most beautiful castles that I have visited in my whole life. I recommend this castle to those who like history and architecture. Have you visited this wonderful moated castle? How did you get there? Did you feed those huge fishes?
Keep yourself happy!!!
Much love
