My trip to Bucharest, Romania

A big Hello to everyone!!! I hope you all are doing great! January has flown and I can't believe it’s February already! I have been so tired and lazy lately... So, I apologize again for being so inactive, but I am here, and want to thank to all those who texted/emailed me and worried about me!
In this post, I will write briefly about my trip to Bucharest. I mentioned about it in my previous posts and promised that will share with you about this travel experience. I have visited Bucharest in October last year (2014) and I have spent wonderful time during my stay there. I want to thank my blog friend Ira for inspiring me to stop in Bucharest. She came up with the idea of staying overnight at her place, so I stayed at her place and I am thankful to her for everything she did for me during my trip to this wonderful city. She is a great person and because of her I loved Bucharest. I met her for the first time, but it was like we have known each other our whole lives.

I was in Bucharest for only one day and I really had a fun day with Ira. There were long walks, nice lunch in the old town, great tour to the Palace of Parliament and drinks on it's roof (it has a great panorama of the city), an enjoyable dinner at the St.Patrick Irish Pub & Restaurant. I am so glad that had this chance to visit Bucharest, I visited it for the first time and it was a delightful experience.

Here are some photos from my trip with descriptions :)
Old Town is filled with bars, restaurants, nightclubs and various shops everything you need for nightlife and not only. I loved this part of the city and would definitely go back.
Bucharest has very impressive buildings. On our way to Palatul Poporului (Palace of Parliament).
It's selfie time :) Me and Ira
Nice park for a stroll on a sunny day :)
Part of the city
This is that super large and very famous building  - Palatul Poporului (Palace of Parliament). This impressive construction has a great history behind it. The Palace is absolutely huge, far bigger than I imagined and it takes a long time to walk all the way round to the entrance, but the surroundings of the palace are also impressive and I really enjoyed that long way to get there while we were chatting about Ceausescu and the whole history.
Smiley Liuba in front of the Palace
I loved this huge building a lot
Our drinks and a leaflet from the Museum
Palace of Parliament also has a museum at the back, National Museum of Contemporary Art and at the top floor of the museum it has a cafe with a nice view.
Great job I can say

Another great art
This beautiful Cathedral has a very good position at the top of the hill next to the Piata Unirii.
It is the same Cathedral - Patriarchal Cathedral only from the back of it.
This is the city centre of the city - Piata Unirii. This a great place for shopping. I havn't been inside of the shopping centre, but saw some brands like: Zara, Bershka, Pull and Bear, H&M...
Ira's black cat earring :)
While waiting for our orders at the St.Patrick Irish Pub & Restaurant.
It is another well designed local, but I didn't like that in almost all nice locals it's allowed to smoke in all areas and I couldn't enjoy that much with too much smoke :))
Old tram in Bucharest
The trees are taller than building, I think it's something Wow
On the next morning Ira got these pretzels (covrigei) for breakfast. They aren't expensive, but they are super delicious. It is the very best dessert/snack I have ever eaten.

Have you ever visited Bucharest? What is your favourite place to eat in Bucharest???

Keep yourself happy!!!
Much love
Liuba G

  1. Hi Liuba, I just love all your photos, such a beautiful place!!! Unfortunately I don't get to travel, and the only places I have been to are Ontario, New Brunswick and the U.S. (New England mostly), but thanks to kind people like yourself I have seen many beautiful places in the world through your photos. You look great in your photos, too, and I really like Ira's black cat earring. :)

Mi-a placut postarea ta, mult!

    Mii de pupici, Liuba! xxxxxx
