9 Must see attractions in Nice

We spent one week in Nice, south of France. It's a superb place to forget about everything, to relax and to be in good mood :) I will share photographs and write briefly about those sights that really loved. This post might be helping you to fall in love with this city, too.

1. The "Promenade des Anglais" - the name Nice immediately brings to mind the renowned "Promenade des Anglais", which has come to stand for Nice itself and is a meeting-place for people from all over the world. The name Promenade des Anglais dates from 1844. Today the promenade is an elegant street lined with fashionable shops and celebrated buildings such as the Hotel Negresco, the Hotel Royal, the Ruhl Casino, and the Palais de la Mediterranee.

2. The port - The port was built by Charles Emmanuel III, Duke of Savoy. Begun in 1750, it was soon dubbed "Port Lympia" (port of the clear waters). From this port, the boats leave to Corsica, Sardinia and Marseille. There are numerous restaurants along the quays which do much to enliven the atmosphere .

3. Vieux Nice or Old Nice - No one should fail to visit the old city. It is like taking a sudden plunge into the past. I love all these narrow streets. The narrow streets all date back to the 17th or 18th centuries. Here you can see little squares, the flower pots at the windows, and laundry hanging out to dry on the balconies.

4. Le Chateau - We visited Le Chateau on the second day and we were super impressed of the spectacular panoramic view of the city and sea. To get there you can take elevator (not free) or hike up the stairs for free.

5. Place Massena - It is constantly trafficked, but in a pleasant way. It's place of fun and enjoyment for children and for adults, because of the plays of water from promenade du Paillon. Here is the center of Nice's night life and one of the many streets in the city's delightful pedestrian zone.

6.  CimiezArchaeology Museum & Roman Ruins - Museum was created in 1960, the museum houses a collection of objects brought to light by the excavations at Cimiez (ancient city), such as ceramics, Roman jewelry and pottery, and Greek, Etruscan and Italic vases.

7. Musee Matisse - Here are preserved elsewhere Henry Matisse's major works. Paintings and drawings on display here allow us to follow his evolution from the copies he made of the old masters up to his preparatory sketches for the Chapel of Vence.

8. Parc PhoenixLovely way to spend last day of holiday ( we have been there in the 2nd half of the last day). Easily accessible by bus  from Nice city centre and barely notice the sound of nearby airport.  If you have kids, then this place is a must. There is small zoo, very relaxing park with waterfalls, interesting details, excellent playing ground and very funny bamboo forrest. The entrance is only €2.

9. Theatre de la Photographie et de I'Image - From 28th Jun 2014 - 21st Sep it's Steve McCurry photography exhibition.  Make time while in Nice and visit here, you won't be disappointed. The exhibitions change a couple of times a year, and if they are showing a photographer or images that interest you, it is certainly worth the visit. The entrance is free and is not allow to take pictures.

Have you ever visited Nice? What else can you suggest to visit??? Where is your favourite place to go on vacantion???

Keep yourself happy!!!
Much love

Din pacate, nu am experienta iesirilor din tara! Am vizitat doar Viena, in urma cu 2 ani - am gasit-o fascinanta! In vara asta, plecam in Grecia!

  7. Mi-ar placea sa vizitez Nice, visez si la Marsilia, asta dupa ce am vazut cateva postari la o alta bloggerita care locuieste in Franta, Larisa. Nu am vazut multe locuri in afara Romaniei. Asa cum in Italia, Grecia, am gasit feluri de mancare care m-au cucerit sigur as fi incantata sa incerc si din bucataria lor.
    Te pup, multumim pentru circuit!

Si acolo sus as sta cateva ore sa priesc plaja, marea, portul..
Frumoase poze ati facut! Ma bucur ca ati avut un concediu asa frumos! Te pup!
